The Laraaji Laughter Workshop was certainly an experience. At least 100 people gathered in the Utzon Room at Sydney Opera House on Saturday to learn about laughter therapy from Laraaji, one of Brian Eno’s handpicked Luminous performers.
Some people took the challenge very seriously and exhibited hysterical bouts of laughter! Collectively laughing with 100 people is something that everyone should do at least once in their life!
Brian Eno, the curator of Luminous, a key part of Vivid Sydney, presented his key note address ‘Scenius’ to a packed house in the Opera Theatre at Sydney Opera House on Friday night.
The audience was clearly interested in hearing Eno’s thoughts on art culture, climate change and his choice of artists for Luminous. The speech kicked off the Luminous performance program. The New York super group, Battles, played in the Opera Theatre over the weekend and tonight Rachid Taha will take to the stage with his unique sound that transcends genres.

Today Smart Light Sydney, the light component of Vivid Sydney, announced details about Licht, an orchestral and light art interpretation of Stockhausen’s most ambitious work in a free event at Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Saturday 6 June.
Karlheinz Stockhausen, was the controversial German composer who wrote a string quartet for four helicopters, claimed to be descended from astral beings and earned a spot on the cover of the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
Audiences will be treated to a series of concerts from 1pm till late into the night, featuring the long-awaited Australian premiere of extracts from Licht, a sprawling cycle of seven operas that took the recently deceased composer 26 years to complete.
From the foyers to the recital halls to the music cafe, Sydney Conservatorium of Music will be enveloped in music and light, as specialist musicians from Australia and overseas join players from the Conservatorium and leading vocal ensemble The Song Company to bring Stockhausen’s masterwork to life.
Luminous at Sydney Opera House, the music component of Vivid Sydney, has announced new acts to add to the line-up.
Tales from the Afterlives, a provocative performance-piece from neuroscientist David Eagleman and Seun Kuti - the son of world music icon Fela Kuti - will front his father’s band for a night of pulsing music, frenetic dance, and pure joy.
Also announced was SCENIUS, the must-see keynote address from Brian Eno. This is a great opportunity for Brian Eno fans to hear him speak about his work and vision.
